On 15th August 2026, IIT Mandi celebrated 80th Independence Day of India. The day was started with the flag hoisting by The Honourable Director, IIT Mandi. The IIT Mandi campus community including students, staff witnessed this event. Flag hoisting was followed by the march past by the NCC cadets, Students/ staff and faculty of Inter-IIT Sports Meet 2025 and the security personnel. NCC cadets of AirWing also showed a drill demonstration to the spectators. The cultural function dipped into the patriotism was showcased in the institute auditorium. Students of IIT Mandi along with kids of IIT Mandi campus school mesmerized the audience by their various types of performances. The Director, IIT Mandi congratulate all on this occasion. The celebration ended with the distribution of the refreshments to all.

On 27th August 2026, the Khelo India Samvaad programme was successfully organized at the IIT Mandi auditorium as a part of the nationwide celebrations of National Sports Day. The event brought together students, dignitaries, and sportspersons in a vibrant atmosphere that highlighted the role of youth in shaping a Viksit Bharat. All the students of IIT Mandi were invited to be present during this live interaction with Hon’ble PM. School students of IIT Mandi Campus school were also invited for this occasion. At 11:00 AM, the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi joined virtually. Two short films were also screened. The Prime Minister’s keynote address inspired the youth to embrace sports as a pathway to discipline, fitness, and nationbuilding. Following this, the Yuva Samvaad session began at 11:45 AM with National/International Sports personalities including Mr. Ashish Chaudhary, an Olympian boxer. The session continued with the felicitation of guests, followed by the collective Nasha Mukt Pledge, affirming the commitment of youth towards a healthier and stronger India. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.

A group of more than 600 undergraduate students of batch of 2026 including BS, Btech and iMBA has joined IIT Mandi on 1 st August 2026. To acquaint all freshers with the Institute, its amenities and to make sensitive about the nature surrounding IIT Mandi, 8 days long induction programme was organized. All days were focused on different topics. Ranging from Physical fitness to Environment protection, various experts in their fields delivered informative and interactive talks. The distinguished invited speakers including Mr. Sandeep Gokhle, Dr. Arti Pal, Mr. Mir Ranjan Negi, Dr. Sunita Khurana made students aware about the various aspects of students life and shared invaluable thoughts. The weekend of the first week was reserved for the campus tour, in which tour to South and North campus were arranged in two different groups of students. One day was dedicated to the plantation drive in which each and every student took part and plant saplings of different trees including fruits and shady trees. Besides, special lecture series, Heads of different amenities of the institute including Principal Medical Officer, Security Officer, Legal Experts, Counsellor also make students aware of the different aspect in their respective fields.
