The orientation of the newly joined UG students of the batch of 2025 was organized on Thursday 31st July 2025. Day before the Orientation program, the hostel allotment of newly joined students took place which followed by the on-spot document verification. The orientation was started at 3PM and continued till 6PM. New students were made aware in advance about the orientation program through a fully information equipped webpage having detailed instructions. The Orientation program was attended by more than 600 students including B Tech in various branches, BS in Chemical Sciences and Integrated MBA (IMBA) students.

IIT Mandi held induction program for the newly joined students to make them aware of the IIT Mandi campus, its surroundings and the facilities available at the campus. The induction program was held from 1 st to 10 th August 2025. Every day the freshers were gathered for the Yoga practice at 5 different locations, where they were taught the basic Yoga asanas. The purpose was to put the yoga in their daily routine while they are at campus to stay fit and healthy. Every yoga session was followed by an expert talk at the institute auditorium where invited expert speakers deliver their lectures and shared their life experience and expertise beneficial for the students. Students also got opportunity to have the interactions with speakers during the lectures. Topics of these lectures covered various issues including Drug Abuse, Anti-ragging, Meditation for life, Cyber security, Gender sensitization, Art of living etc.

79th Independence Day of India was celebrated at IIT Mandi. The celebration started with the flag hoisting ceremony by Prof. Laxmidhar Behera, Hon’ble Director IIT Mandi. After the national anthem, The Director observed the march past, consisting of security personnel, students, staff and faculty of Inter-IIT Sports Tournament-2024 participants. Sh. Nitesh Kumar, the Gold medalist of Paralympic and an alumnus of IIT Mandi was the chief guest of the event. The address of The Director was followed by the address of the chief guest. After the flag hoisting ceremony, a cultural program was organized at the institute auditorium. The cultural program was a blend of performances from the students of IIT Mandi and the students of Mind Tree School who mesmerized the audience with full of joy and the sense of patriotism.The annual cultural fest showcased performances in music, dance, and drama by students from various departments.

During 3-15 August 2024, the nation participated in “Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan”. This year the campaign was held in three different phases viz. 3-8 August, 9-12 August and 13-15 August 2025. IIT Mandi actively involved in this campaign and encouraged each and every student of the institute to take selfie with Tiranga and upload on the portal of the MyGov. The campaign was fully supported by the Govt. of India and encouraged students and staff of IIT Mandi to write thank giving letters/cards to Police and defense personnel and visit to their Headquarters/camps/Cantts. In view of this, on 12/08/2025 and 13/08/2025, Students, staff and faculty visited Police Line, Mandi and Yol Army Cantt, Dharamshala respectively. Also, Tiranga was mounted on each hostel of the institute under this campaign. In addition, different students’ groups took part in the Rangoli making competition organized to make the campaign successful at IIT Mandi.

IIT Mandi observed Anti-Ragging Day on 12th August 2024 and Anti-Ragging Week from 12-18 August, 2025. Keeping in view the sensitivity of the topic an expert talk was arranged for the newly joined students during the Induction program 2025. During the Anti-Ragging week Senior and Junior students together were again sensitized about the ragging and its effects on a human life. Selfie points were installed in the hostel area for students to take selfie and to be aware of the day/week. To make the happenings impactful, the Literary Society, Students Gymkhana organized 3 different competitions which include JAM (Just A Minute) by Debating Club, Wrong Answers Only by Quizzing Club and Essay writing competition by the Writing Club. In addition, In addition, the ArtGeeks Club host an online Comic Strip Competition and the Designauts club offline Poster Making Competition titled "My First Day".
