IIT Mandi welcomes female rank-holders in JEE (Advanced) 2018

Congratulations on getting a rank in the IIT JEE (Advanced) exam. Your hard work has resulted in your having a good chance of being offered a seat at one of the premier educational institutes in the world.

In our country, the Himalayas have traditionally been seen as the seat of wisdom and learning. IIT Mandi is uniquely located in a serene mid-Himalayan river valley in Himachal Pradesh. It has emerged in the last few years as a leading centre of learning. Students and faculty from all parts of India -- and even some from abroad -- have made it their home.

IIT Mandi offers a flexible curriculum. Our unique project-based curriculum enables you to work on real-life engineering problems from your 1st year to 4th year. The flexible curriculum means that you can take a number of elective courses. If you do not get your favourite branch, you could still pursue your interest through these electives and projects. The excellent student to faculty ratio of 9:1 makes faculty-student interactions easier. World-class lab facilities and well-trained and committed faculty ensure that students graduate from IIT Mandi as highly competent engineers. The placement statistics of IIT Mandi are impressive, and our students have taken up successful careers in companies and corporations, civil services, entrepreneurship, and academia.

The campus of IIT Mandi is fully residential. Your teachers’ homes are near your hostel, and you can always approach them for help. Himachal has one of the best records for women’s safety in India. You will not face any of the hassles and dangers lurking in big cities. You will, therefore, be able to focus fully on your studies and will have plenty of opportunities to participate in sports and other extra-curricular activities.

Mandi is connected to Chandigarh and Delhi by regular buses. Chandigarh is well connected to the rest of India by flights and trains. Kullu and Dharamshala airports and the Shimla railway station are a scenic drive from Mandi. Our women faculty and students find it convenient to reach any part of India from Mandi in an economical and safe manner.

Our students, alumni and faculty will be happy to answer your questions about IIT Mandi. You can contact them at:
