IIT Mandi offers courses in Basic Sciences, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical and Civil Engineering. Complementarily, there is a wide range of courses in Humanities and Social Sciences. All courses and interactions are in English.

As an undergraduate student you can join as an exchange student in one of the BTech programs. Postgraduate students may also come as regular full time students apart from visiting for a shorter period.

If there is an MoU/agreement with your home university/institution, the terms and conditions laid down there will apply. Otherwise, the latter need to be worked out before an exchange is possible. In general, international BTech, MTech and PhD students at IIT Mandi are treated at par with their Indian counterpart concerning course work, accommodation and campus life.

What to submit to IIT Mandi:
- whatever the MoU/agreement requires
- Application Form of the institute
- Medical Certificate confirming your fitness (after selection, before joining)
- Clearance Form, with this form the institute will apply for clearance by the Indian government required for all international members of the institute.

Submit a soft copy of these documents to the Office International Relations no later than May 15th for the monsoon semester (August-November) and December 15th for the spring semester (February-May).

If you have a degree from an Indian university, you will be treated on par with the Indian nationals for the admission process, cf. M.S./Ph.D. Admission.

If you don't have a degree from an Indian university, your educational qualification should satisfy requirements equivalent to those of Indian nationals, cf. M.S./Ph.D. Admission, International Students. In particular, you should have a valid score in one of the following

- GRE (Graduate Record Examination)
- GMAT (General Management Admission Test)
- GATE (General Aptitude Test in Engineering)
- CAT (Common Admission Test)

or an equivalent examination in the relevant discipline.
Compose your application matching the M.S./Ph.D. and M.Tech. Admission requirements as far as possible.

What to submit additionally with your M.S./Ph.D. application:

Check out the details applicable to you related to fees, insurances, accommodation and semester timings (cf. links to the right). If you intend to transfer credits earned, find out the respective procedure of your university. For most of the countries a visa will be required (confer the VISA Application link to the right), which should be applied for well in advance. It is further recommended to familiarize yourself somewhat with the Indian culture before you enter the country. After your selection, you will be contacted by the Office International Relations and given advice and guidance concerning your arrival and settling in at IIT Mandi.
