The objective of the workshop was to discuss about the major changes we can bring to the way we supply energy and monitor its consumption by building a smarter grid to reduce transmission losses, improve power quality & reliability, reduce emissions and even provide provisions for heterogeneous power quality. The solutions using the advanced technologies/methodologies were discussed and several technical studies based on the recent research work was presented by Indian and UK researchers.
IEEE Student Branch IIT Mandi organized a Distinguish Lecture on Energy Efficient of Medium Voltage Drives delivered by Dr. Joachim Holtz, Professor Emeritus and Consultant, Wuppertal University, Germany. There was a huge participation from Students and Faculties.
This was a competition on digital electronics.The participants were given a problem statement whose solution involved use of basic digital electronics.It consisted of two rounds prelims(held on 7th May) and final (held on 8th May).
The objective of the workshop was to give students an
insight about the "IOT (Internet of
Things)" demonstrated by using Raspberry Pi. Students participated in a team of four.
This two day workshop provided an introduction to Raspberry-Pi and IOT, with an
emphasis on the smart moving machines of the next generation, i.e., robots, cars, trucks,
machine tools, airplanes, satellites, combine harvesters, etc. It also focused on electronic
"Advance Technology", one of the leading companies with design and development of various embedded software and hardware solutions, organized it.
The event was a success with a total of 82 attendees during the duration. It introduced students with the powerful tools they can use to make something innovative and beneficial to the society.
This event will be a competition on microcontroller board. A complete kit will be given to the participants on 31st October to come up with an innovative and useful project and present it on 8 th November. These presentations will be judged by IIT Mandi faculties and winners will be awarded.
